Engagement workshop:

Tired of your dog ignoring you? Do you struggle to get your dogs attention around distractions?
I am going to start a small workshop that will show dog owners how to improve their communication with their dogs. Many people believe their dog is just stubborn however, being stubborn is a choice, dogs don’t have the cognitive function to choose to be stubborn they are simply unmotivated and it is our job to motivate our dogs.
My engagement workshop is a short 4 hour course over 2 sessions where we will work on improving our relationship with our dog, finding what motivates them and using that to reinforce that engaging with their owner will reap many rewards.
This will be a small group of 6 people and their dogs, dogs should be good around other dogs but there will be no interaction between them as this is not for socialising.
The total cost for this will be £25, sessions will be held at Sighthill Park…starting date will be confirmed once I have enough people signed up.
If this interests you then please send me a message so I can note your interest, a small deposit to secure your place may be required depending on how popular this becomes. This is a workshop I intend to keep going so please don’t worry if you miss out there will be other opportunities to join.

Back to work:

For the last year and a half I haven’t been taking on work as I was waiting to have my gallbladder removed. Things took a bit of a turn as infection started to make its way around my body, I became quite poorly and ended up in hospital for five days. I got emergency surgery and had my gallbladder removed and I am very happy to say I’m now on the road to recovery.
I’m still quite sore and uncomfortable but that’ll settle and in 3-4 weeks I will start to take on some new clients, I will be starting off slowly as that was a very long time to have been off work so I won’t be opening my books fully until I am back to 100%.
This year was meant to be filled with goals and first achievements in both the business and personal life, the main goal being that I wanted to have my boy Odin titled in IGP even if we just managed his BH that would have still been a huge accomplishment. Not only could we not manage that I could barely spend any time doing even most fundamental training with him which has left us way behind in terms of his development, I am really looking forward to getting back out to doing everything I couldn’t do before and making Odin everything I know he can be.
I have some plans for the business also, the main one there being finding premises to work from so I can help more people than before. Having somewhere private to practice and to assess dogs would benefit myself and my clients so much, although I can manage without it I believe it would be much better for clients to be able to relax whilst training instead of feeling under any pressure. I know how stressful some owners can be with their dogs so it’s always my goal to take as much of that away as I can and build their confidence together, a private place to practice would definitely do that.
For now though it’s all about recovery, and getting back to full strength. I will keep everyone updated as things progress, thanks for continuing to follow me even though there was very little of my own content…I appreciate that very much.
Really looking forward to getting back to work and putting this nightmare behind me.

Changes coming soon

While I have been unable to work I have had a lot of time to think about how to take Pawsitive Companions forward, the idea of an online academy was considered but won't be an option as I fully believe any dog coming through my training should be assessed by me in person for accurate diagnosis.

For nearly 4 years my price in behaviour modification has never changed, it has also been lower than the majority of dog trainers especially in recent times which has held me back a lot. There are trainers charging up to £1000 for their services who don't have the qualifications necessary in dog psychology/behaviour and have huge followings on social media but this is how they can afford facilities for their work.

I would like to have my own space to work from and so my prices will increase in April 2023 and I will be investing in premises of my own in order to help more dogs in a more controlled environment.
